Hi-Tech Egg

We are still cracking up about The Big Egg Hunt at idfx magazine, and we thought we'd share with you what we believe to be the most intricate egg, just in case you don't make it to every zone.
The design pictured above is a collaboration between Fourfoursixsix Architects, Ogle Models and EOS who have come together to display a complex type of laser-sintering technology. The concept, as described by Fourfoursixsix's Daniel Welham, was developed by applying a set of architectural principles to the otherwise plain surface of the egg. Instead of merely painting or decorating the egg as many of the other supporters of the hunt have expertly done, these engineers and architects changed the overall form and surface of their base entirely.
The manufacturing process of the final product uses a combination of digital three-dimensional data, powdered plastic and a focused laser beam that allows the designers to carve out exactly what they need to display the correct structure, light and shadow and manipulate the light for effect.
The designers at these three companies have created something truly unique and impossible to imitate that will delight people who pass it on the street in zone 3 (Knightsbridge & Sloane Square) as well as make one buyer very happy at the end-of-event auction.
