The Sound Chair by Italian design giants, Natuzzi is an iconic piece of furniture, often used as inspiration for young designers. To celebrate this, Natuzzi has invited creatives from across the UK to offer a re-design of the iconoic chair, all to be exhibited at the London Design Festival. Each of the talented up-and-coming designers, or design collectives, will offer their alternative designs by painting, embellishing, reupholstering and in some cases completely remodeling the chairs for the Chair Affair exhibition.

The exhibition will be held at the Natuzzi store on Tottenham Court Road, London from 17 - 25 September. The ten designers are:

Davide Bianchi: Originating from Padova, Italy and now residing in London, Bianchi creates unique furniture collections, bespoke pieces and delivers high-end interior projects.

Liqui Design: Liqui is fast becoming a brand reputed for innovative, stylish furniture and lighting, which is made with care and respect for the environment.

Francesca Mancini: Furniture and product designer, Mancini's ambition is to produce high quality furniture and products using innovative designs while adapting traditional and modern materials.

Urban Upholstery: Established in 2007, Urban Upholstery is a London-based company that recycles existing furniture and creates new pieces, from concept.

Valentina Gonzalez Wohlers & 180 Interiors: Trained as an industrial designer, Wohlers has 10 years of experience designing, making and selling pieces that focus on functionality and aesthetics above all, with the element of surprise thrown in for good measure.

Joachim King: Originally from a family of boat builders in the Finnish archipelago, there is an understanding of woodwork and carpentry in the blood. Eco-friendly, King uses scraps, off-cuts and reclaimed timber for many of his designs.

Melanie Porter: After 10 years working as a knitwear designer for a number of international fashion brands, in 2008 Melanie Porter turned her expertise to furniture, creating one-off contemporary designs from antiques sourced at auctions and markets.

Ryan Todd: London-based artist and designer, Todd works on a diverse range of personal and commercial projects. His focus is on producing ideas-led images which exercise forms of creative thinking and wit.

Katrin Baumgarten: Baumgarten's projects revolve around human-technology interaction and explore future possibilities within technology and art.

I can't wait to see what they come up with! This chair is pretty perfect just as it is - I want to curl up in it with a good book. Hope that you'll post photos of the results.

Thanks for sharing this!
