Pitching ideas - Tent London 2010
September 23, 2010
Today was the first day of Tent London, the multi-faceted, contemporary design show in the heart of East London's cutting edge Brick Lane, in the Truman Brewery. I sauntered past the curry houses and textile shops to be greeted by a huge queue snaking round the corner. It was definitely the busiest and buzziest I've ever seen it.
Traditional African style prints are big in Autumn/Winter fashion and the trend has obviously filtered to interior products (or is it the other way round?) and could be seen on 20 Age's interestingly re-upholstered vintage furniture.

As well as the glass topped occasional tables, Washi, by FamilyTree Shop in Maple or American Walnut with hand turned legs

And Patrick Laing's cotton Sock-Chair Bed, which as the name suggests doubles as a two seater sofa or day-bed

Curiosa and Curiosa were showing beautiful hand-blown glass pendant lights, as well as further examples of vintage pieces revamped with modern fabrics and brightly coloured wallpapers

And last by not least; this little guy was part of a fun mini exhibition, Everyday Delights, put together by JJAM Curators Collective who challenged London-based designers to reinvent the humble duster into something much more creative.
