New Designers celebrates its 25th Anniversary this July, with around 3500 graduates exhibiting their wares at the Business Design Centre, hoping to make a strong first impression on the design industry. Isobel Dennis, who has been director of the event for six years, can explain why it is the leading show for emerging design talent. 'Over the years the format has not changed much, but every year the content is always fresh and dramatically different,' she says.
We spoke to Isobel as part of the first instalment of our young designers features in the April issue of idfx (continued in May and June), looking at the opportunities and pitfalls graduates can expect as they embark upon their design career. New Designers is certainly the first step for many young creatives and a great platform to launch ideas, shown by the list of famous past-exhibitor alumni.
