The Quiet Riot/ThemThere talk

ThemThere and thequietriot.com will be running quiet riot presentations on the 25th of March 2010. Four of the seven key themes of thequietriot.com will be covered: industries, people, spaces and communities. For each topic there will be a 15 minute presentation followed by a Q&A session.
ThemThere is a collaboration of small businesses that work in and
around the creative industry in East London (the geography is very
negotiable). The teams cooperate in the areas of sharing business
skills, cross marketing, networking together and community activities.
ThemThere members are architects, graphic designers, furniture
manufacturers, a lighting company, a transporter and product designers.
Speakers at the event will be from a cross section of industry members, small and large companies and designers.
INDUSTRIES: Fashion statement - Design and sourcing strategies for the New Consumer
Claire Hamer, Director, EI8HT worked for ten years as a buyer with leading fashion retailers and helped TOPSHOP on their sustainability initiative.
PEOPLE: Creative tools and the design of sustainable learning
Ana Karakusevic, Holistic Learning worked as a short-film and TV director, a BBC World Service radio producer and 24-hour news editor.
SPACES: Future Light
Oscar Pena, Senior Creative Director Lighting Design, Philips Design, has been on the board of Droog Design, and head of the Man and Activity department at the Eindhoven Design Academy.
COMMUNITIES: Transforming lives through dependable, self-powered, and environmentally friendly technologies and designs
Kristine Pearson, CEO, The Freeplay Foundation, TIME magazine has named her as a Hero of the Environment as a result of distributing over 200 000 wind-up and solar powered Lifeline radios throughout Africa.
RSVP is essential as there are only 80 places. Refreshments will also be provided.
