Craft Matters
March 12, 2010
On Tuesday the House of Lords played host to some of the most influential names in craft at an event held by the Crafts Council. The evening celebrated the success of its new initiative Craft Matters, which encourages people to sign up and show their support for contemporary craft across the UK.
The initiative was launched in October last year as part of the Crafts Council's new efforts to boost the profile of crafts and show how important it is to our society. The event, hosted by Professor the Baroness Lola Young of Hornsey OBE, marked the launch of the new Craft Matters website and celebrated the 6000 people who have already have signed up. There were some well-known signatories in tow, including long-time craft supporter Sir Terence Conran who joined Joanna Foster CBE, chair of the Craft Council (pictured), as well as Siobhan Davies CBE, Sir Nicholas Goodison, Mary Butcher and many others. Linda Barker and Michael Eden seemed to be having a great time!
