A Midlands based interior design company, which is under a year old, has completed its first multi million pound contract on a five star hotel in the north east of England.

The resort, Rockliffe Hall in County Durham, partially opened its doors just before the end of last year, and is expected to have a grand opening later this month. The hall incorporates an original 18th century country house which sits at the centre of the resort.Having stood empty for several years the Victorian hall has been painstakingly restored to its former glory and supplemented with luxurious and contemporary touches.

RTR Design's fundamental aim has been to acknowledge the design and architectural features of the old Hall and to adopt a sympathetic approach to blend them through into the new extension; giving the whole resort a sophistication which blends perfectly from old to new.

Samantha Terry, one of the interior designers on the project, said: "The challenge at Rockliffe was getting it completed on time, and to the highest standard with a finish that oozes timeless elegance.

"The project was a dream, and the strong image throughout the scheme allowed us to design each room as unique, marrying the old with the new and contemporary with more traditional."
