A smart sustainable home with DuPont™ Corian® by Karim Rashid

These are renderings of a special installation Corian has comissioned Karim Rashid to create for their Milan store. Its unveiling will happen during the city's design festival, Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2010. It is based on the design versatility and sensuous qualities of Corian and also features other advanced products from DuPont Building Innovations.
All the areas of the home - kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, garden - will be creatively interpreted by Karim Rashid.
Each of these areas will be populated with a variety of smart design solutions in which DuPont Corian is the key player and connecting element. The design will feature several of the newly launched colours for Corian that include recycled content.
The installation will also present possible options for "futuristic" forms of Corian featuring sustainably sourced materials.
Further high-tech DuPont solutions for improving energy-efficiency and decreasing the environmental imprint of buildings are also part of the design. These include DuPont Tyvek breather membranes and the phase change solution, DuPont Energain, developed to add lightweight thermal mass to modern buildings.
