The MAD Agency in Horton near Wimborne, Dorset boasts what appears to be a floating boardroom table. Infact, the 10ft black-topped table is not actually floating, just suspended on virtually-invisible yacht rigging wires, creating a guaranteed talking point.
The MAD boardroom table and an equally eyecatching reception desk are both clad with a diamond polished, luxurious work surface, made from finest quality Italian granite finished in Trend R New Galaxy, which combines the distinctive looks and style of natural granite, with the practical, hardwearing performance of advanced polymer technology. This material is ideal for such design agency applications, as it is lighter and more manageable than granite slab, so can be installed without extra reinforcement on kitchen worktops, bathroom units, bar counters, even ‘floating’ tables.

The MAD Agency recently relocated from a converted barn to newly-renovated premises, which have been decked out with custom-designed wallpaper, advanced technology and bespoke furniture, including the floating table. MD Richard Crossman designed the reception unit and table, then prefabricated the aluminium frames himself, using a high-speed water jet machine, before infilling with MDF board.
Suspended on rigging wires the highly distinctive boardroom table sways gently to the touch. Meantime, the reception desk worktop, also fully scratch, impact, heat and stain resistant, sits atop a bright red painted base, in front of matched cutout lettering hugely proclaiming ‘MAD’. All surfaces were fitted by local firm Granite Transformations.
