JOI-Design Wins Two ADEX Awards for Hotel Design

Established in Hamburg in 1984, JOI-Design believes that design is the hotelier’s best marketing tool. Therefore, it is no surprise that the company (one of Europe’s most respected hotel interior design firms) has recently won two prestigious 2009 Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX) from Design Journal magazine. Peter Joehnk, founder and managing director of JOI-Design, explained that the practice entered the competition with the aim of expanding its reputation into the US and the UK markets while providing Americans exposure to the design styles popular in continental Europe.

Langham Hotel refurbishment

Based in London's West End, the 140 year old Langham Hotel has a rich history, boasting a guest list including a number of the world’s monarchs and rulers. For this reason, when it recently had a £50 million makeover, it needed to ensure that the refreshed interior reflected this legacy, as well as bolstering the Langham’s position amongst the world’s elite hotels. Helvar lighting controls were selected to help illuminate the magnificence of the hotel’s restaurant and bar areas.
