Futurist Flora is a powerful exhibition currently on at La Triennale di Milano in Milan with artworks by Fantoni.

The exhibition organised by Anna Scavezzon and Alessandro Ortenzi pays homage to the one hundredth anniversary of the Futurist movement and the celebrated Italian artist, Giacomo Balla.

Balla’s flowers have forms that do not exist in nature, are painted in bright colours and were seen by the artist as an improvement on decadent natural flora.

Using Medium Density Fibreboard Fantoni has created pieces possessing a daring and eclectic approach to design. Each of the 11 works has a soul and character not usually seen in MDF. Like real flowers, their function is to furnish, colour and perfume an environment. Creating these works through a process of strong stylization of form, the marvellous, giant, futurist flowers bloom in the garden of the Triennale.

The exhibition will be on until September.
