Ahead of our feature on hidden kitchens in next month’s issue, Armani Casa show us how it’s done with the unveiling of their new collaboration, the Calyx.

As we all know, Mr Armani is something of a perfectionist and it’s not hard to imagine that the sight of a dirty sink could lead very quickly to a major existential crisis. So it’s no surprise that his new kitchen, a joint venture with Italian manufacturer Dada, unveiled here in Milan for the first time this week, is a masterclass in sleek finishes and clean lines. Hidden behind weighty full-height doors (the kind that never come cheap), are beautiful materials – wood veneers, glass and woven metal - that perfectly echo the Armani aesthetic. Greige lacquer on the outside gives way to shimmering textiles trapped behind glass which serves to add to their luminosità. The palette reflects, literally, the Armani Casa look – subtly reflective materials and a subdued range of colours create a super-sophisticated look. Calyx Armani Dada_4.jpg

Both Dada and Armani will be marketing the kitchen which will hopefully arrive in the UK in a few months. It’s the kind of luxury best appreciated in the flesh but failing that, for now, try the Armani Casa and Dada websites.
