London Borough of Newham Offices
December 15, 2009

ID:SR plays on the concept of neighbourhoods for Newham Council's new headquarters in the Royal Albert Docks, London. The 23,000sqm local authority offices over eight floors take inspiration from the density of urban spaces, where compact desking areas are combined with shared spaces for meetings, break-out and refreshments.

The neighbourhood concept is designed by specific spaces: 'cityscape', 'parklife', 'town square' 'study space' and 'living room'.
The offices are a diverse range of places to suit Newham's varying activities, creating a synergy between the neighbourhood in the office and the Borough it supports - a place created with a real sense of home, ID:SR has said.
One of the most notable design elements is the timber ribbon that wraps over and around the 'living room' and 'study space' to create more intimate areas. This ribbon also creates a natural screen for cluster of desks.

I'm big fan of the fun wallpaper patterns and jewel-like colours that clad the interiors.
